Super Dog PilotPilot is a 10-month-old yellow Labrador retriever. He has some good obedience skills already, such as heeling, stay, and sit. But what he’s missing is good behavior. He has no idea how to be gentle in the house. He wants to jump on people, jump on an elderly dog in the household, use his teeth on people when he plays. He humps things, he steals things, he gets on the counter, and is generally frustrating his family. He’s a sweet dog, but he is taking over the household. The good news is, Pilot loves to work and perform commands. He has generations of DNA telling him to be a hunting dog. But with no way to hunt, we must find ways to fulfill his needs through other methods. First, we will work on impulse control using the Place and Leave It commands. We are also going to teach him that the humans are in control of what happens in the house, not him. Mostly, we will get him looking to his owners for instruction on what he should and shouldn’t do, so he can relax.
