Calm in PublicWho is that hiding among the patio furniture? It’s Maci, a yellow Lab, who previously was an over-excited, pulling, jumping mess. Today, Maci is learning that no matter where she goes, so do her manners. When she’s out in public she still has to comply with the lessons she learned in school. Here she is doing a Place command. Of course, for safety purposes, her humans are close by, ready to grab the leash, but it wasn’t needed. Her owners report that prior to training with Super Dog School, she would have dragged them all over the store, even though she had been sent away for boarding training. Sometimes, even when a dog is trained, if the people aren’t also trained, things don’t work out. I believe it is a 50-50 endeavor: The dog learns the behaviors and the humans learn how to communicate to the dog clearly. Everybody wins! A+, Maci!
