Otis knew that when he saw his teacher, even though it had been a few months, he should go right to his Place. Most dogs can learn a default behavior– something they do because they are sure it’s always going to get them the good stuff: praise, affection, treats! For most dogs, it’s the Sit. Sometimes it’s the Down. Otis chose Place because it was one of the first behaviors I taught him. When you have a dog offering good behaviors without being asked, you know that dog is really thinking. He’s also not jumping, barking, chewing or doing anything wrong. We want our dogs to make good choices every day. A+, Otis!
